Assassin's Creed Unveils Surprising Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season
In a bizarre collaboration that breaks conventional expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Revealed
According to the formal release, "A mysterious meeting leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of prohibited practices and fearsome metamorphoses reverberate through the obscurity." The storyline features a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine sect.
The adventure focuses on "strange trials and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Changes
The preview showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a striking scene showing a character, probably the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Additional Material
Players who finish the mission will obtain an unique katana alongside several artifacts concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Update
This update also adds the game's newest complimentary story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series previously featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
